How to Root the Samsung Galaxy Exhilarate

If you’re a flashaholic person like me, then you’ll definitely like to root your Samsung Galaxy Exhilarate smartphone. Rooting your device removes the limitations imposed by your manufacturer and allows you to make any changes you want to your device. Read on to learn how you can root your Samsung Galaxy Exhilarate smartphone:

I. Before You Begin:

1. This will void the warranty of your device. However, you can reinstate the warranty by unrooting your device if there’s any unrooting procedure available.

2. You should have appropriate drivers installed on your PC. If you don’t, get them from here.

3. You should have a microSD card inserted in your device.

4. You should be running on Android ICS.

5. This procedure works on Windows based PCs only.

II. Downloading Required Files:

1. Odin (Download link’s given in the first post)

2. ClockworkMod Recovery (Download link’s given in the first post)

3. Superuser (Download link’s given in the first post)

III. Rooting the Samsung Galaxy Exhilarate:

1. Place all three files you downloaded to your Desktop.

2. Extract files from Odin archive over to your Desktop.

3. Double-click on the Odin executable file and it’ll open.

4. Click on PDA and select the ClockworkMod Recovery file you’ve placed on your Desktop.

5. Uncheck the box labeled as Repartition.

6. Turn OFF your device.

7. Plug the USB cable to your computer.

8. Now press and hold the Volume UP+Volume DOWN buttons together and plug the USB cable to your device.

9. Your device should now be in Download mode.

10. Hit Start in Odin and it’ll begin flashing the recovery.

11. Once the recovery’s been flashed, reboot your device.

12. Now copy the Superuser file over to the root of your SD card.

13. Once the file’s been copied, unplug your device from your PC.

14. Turn OFF your device.

15. Turn it back on by holding down Volume UP+Volume DOWN+Power buttons together.

16. You should now be in Recovery mode.

17. Select install zip from sdcard followed by choose zip from sdcard.

18. Choose the Superuser zip to be flashed on your device.

19. Once it’s been flashed, reboot your device.

20. You’re rooted!

  1. I guess I’m pretty special, but… In the first Link (Softpedia) There are 7 different Odin files to download. I could not find the right one, different options for mac and windows. Also, in Softpedia, I could not find Superuser, nor ClockworkMod Recovery. Please advise. The Exhilarate does not have much memory, and I need to root this old thing.
