How to Root the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (Korean)

Korea has got its own version of the original Samsung Galaxy Note 4, called the Korean Note 4. Being a different device than the original one, this one requires a device specific method to gain root. Fortunately, we now have a method that roots this Korean Note 4, flashes a custom recovery, and opens up doors for you to enjoy what the talented Android developers have developed for your device. Here’s how:

Rooting is the process of gaining administrative rights on your Android device.  Once we root our Android device, we can then make changes to it to customize it well beyond what it normally can do.

Once you have root access on your Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (Korean), you’ll be able to:

• Remove apps that were preinstalled by your carrier/manufacturer from your device.
• Free up storage space (because of the above benefit).
• Increase battery life (apps that might have been running constantly can be removed).
• Increase performance (after removing apps that are always running, the device will be less bogged down and run smoother).
• Update to a new version of Android (by flashing a custom recovery/ROM, see the end of this procedure for more info on that).
• Tons of other customizations when you use your new found administrative rights to flash a custom ROM (again, see the end of this procedure for more info on that).

Interested? Here’s how to root your Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (Korean):

I. Before You Begin

1. This’ll void the warranty of your device. We aren’t liable for the consequences of this procedure. Do it at your own risk.

2. This only works for the SM-N910K, SM-N910L, and SM-N910S variants of the device. To find out what variant of the device you have, head to Menu > Settings > About phone on your device and your model number should be listed there.

3. This should only work on Windows based PCs.

4. Make sure you’ve appropriate Samsung drivers installed on your PC. If you don’t, download the latest drivers from here.

II. Downloading Required Files

1. Download Odin and save it to your desktop.

2. Download CF-Root for your specific variant of the device and save it to your desktop.

OR

SM-N910S

3. Download CWM Recovery for your device and save it to your desktop.

III. Rooting the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (Korean)

1. Extract files from Odin and CF-Root to your desktop. To do that, right-click on each of the archives and select Extract here.

2. Launch Odin by double-clicking on its executable file.

3. When Odin launches, click on PDA and choose CF-Root available on your desktop.

4. Uncheck Repartition if it’s already checked in the Odin.It’s important.

5. You can checkmark the boxes labeled as Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time.

6. Turn OFF your device.

7. Hold down Volume DOWN, Home, and Power buttons together.

8. Press Volume UP when a warning message appears on your screen and your device will reboot into download mode.

9. Plug in your device to your PC using the USB cable.

10. Hit Start in the Odin. It’ll start flashing CF-Root on your device.

11. When it’s been flashed, your device should automatically reboot.

12. You’re done!

And there you go. Your Korean Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is now rooted. Feel free to load it up with your favorite root-only apps and enjoy it at its fullest.

Ever wanted to change the firmware on your device but just never got the opportunity? No worries, just flash a custom recovery on your device using the following section and you’ll be able to change your current ROM to anything you want. Here’s how:

IV. Flashing a Custom Recovery on the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (Korean)

1. Launch Odin by double-clicking on its executable file available on your desktop.

2. Click on PDA and choose CWM Recovery you downloaded to your desktop.

3. Uncheck Repartition in the Odin.

4. Checkmark both Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time.

5. Turn OFF your device.

6. Reboot your device into download mode by holding down Volume DOWN, Home, and Power buttons together.

7. Press Volume UP and you’ll be in download mode.

8. Plug in your device to your PC via USB cable.

9. Click on Start in the Odin and it will start flashing CWM Recovery on your device.

10. When the recovery’s flashed, your device will automatically reboot.

11. You’re all set!

You got it. Your Korean Galaxy Note 4 now has a custom recovery that allows you to do a lot of things on your device, including changing custom ROMs, wiping the device, and even taking full system backups. Let us know how it works for you!
