How to Root the Samsung Mesmerize running Froyo
Having difficulties rooting your Samsung Mesmerize with the SuperOneClick app? No problem, here’s another way to root your device and get those beautiful root-only apps running on it. The procedure’s quite easy to follow and you should be done within a few minutes. And here you go:
I. Before You Begin:
1. This will void the warranty of your device. However, you can reinstate the warranty by unrooting your device if there’s any unrooting procedure available.
2. You must be running on Android Froyo.
3. This works on Windows based PCs only.
4. You should have Samsung drivers installed on your PC. If you don’t, get them from here.
II. Downloading Required Files:
1. Odin (Download link’s given in the second post, section-6)
2. ClockworkMod Recovery (Download link’s given in the second post, section-6)
3. SU ZIP (Download link’s given in the second post, section-6)
4. Froyo Kernel (Download link’s given in the second post, section-6)
III. Rooting the Samsung Mesmerize running Froyo:
1. Download and place all the files onto your Desktop.
2. Extract files from Odin archive over to your Desktop.
3. Connect your device to your PC via USB cable.
4. Copy the SU ZIP file over to the root of your SD card.
5. Once the file’s been copied, unplug your device from your PC.
6. Power OFF your device.
7. Turn it back on by holding down the Volume DOWN button and plugging it to your PC using USB cable.
8. Your device should now be in Download mode.
9. Double-click on the Odin executable file available on your Desktop.
10. Click on PDA and select the ClockworkMod Recovery file you downloaded earlier to your Desktop.
11. Click Start and it’ll begin flashing the recovery.
12. Once the recovery has been flashed, reboot your device.
13. Turn OFF your device.
14. Reboot it into Download mode by holding down the Volume DOWN button and plugging it to your PC using USB cable.
15. Click on PDA in Odin and select the Froyo Kernel for flashing.
16. Hit Start and it’ll start flashing the kernel.
17. Once the kernel’s been flashed, unplug your device from your PC.
18. Turn OFF your device.
19. Pull the battery out of your device and after a few seconds, put it back in.
20. Now press and hold the Volume UP+Volume DOWN+Power buttons together.
21. You should now be in CWM Recovery mode.
22. From there, select install zip from sdcard followed by choose zip from sdcard.
23. Choose the SU ZIP file you copied earlier to your device for flashing.
24. It’ll take a few seconds to flash the file.
25. Once it’s done, reboot your device.
26. And you should be rooted now!
Excellent! Your Samsung Mesmerize has been successfully rooted and is equipped with a custom recovery. Should you want to flash a custom ROM or a mod, you can do so now!
