How to Root the Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 Build VRUAMDK
So you updated your Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 to build VRUAMDK and it broke root-access? No worries, we now have an updated root method that just works fine on this latest build and lets you have all those root-only apps running on your device once again. Here’s how:
I. Before You Begin:
1. This will void the warranty of your device. However, you can reinstate the warranty by unrooting your device if there’s any unrooting procedure available.
2. Make sure your device’s running on the build VRUAMDK. See this to verify it.
3. You should have appropriate drivers installed on your PC. If you don’t, get the latest drivers from here.
II. Downloading Required Files:
1. Odin (Download link’s available in the first post)
2. Prerelease Kernel (Download link’s given in the first post)
3. Stock Kernel (Download link’s given in the first post)
4. Motochopper Root Package (Download link’s available in the first post)
III. Rooting the Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 Build VRUAMDK:
1. Download and place all the files on your Desktop.
2. Extract files from Odin as well as Motochopper archives over to your Desktop.
3. Double-click on the Odin executable file and it’ll launch.
4. Click on PDA and choose the Prerelease Kernel file available on your Desktop.
5. Make sure that the Repartition box isn’t checked in the tool.
6. Turn OFF your device.
7. Turn it back on by holding down Volume DOWN+Power buttons together.
8. Press the Volume UP button when you see an exclamation mark on your screen. You’ll now be taken to the Download mode.
9. Plug in your device to your PC via USB cable.
10. Hit Start in the Odin and it’ll begin flashing the kernel on your device, shouldn’t take too long to finish.
11. Once the kernel’s been flashed, reboot your device.
12. Unplug your device from your PC.
13. On your device, head to Menu>>Settings>>More>>About phone and tap Build number about seven times. It should unlock the Developer options on your device.
14. Now head back to Settings>>Developer options>>USB debugigng, turn it ON.
15. Disable the Verify apps via USB option from there.
16. Turn ON the Unknown sources option by heading to Menu>>Settings>>Security>>Unknown sources.
17. Disable the Verify apps option from Menu>>Settings>>Security>>Verify apps.
18. Plug in your device to your PC once again using the USB cable.
19. Double-click on Run.bat file available on your Desktop and follow the on-screen instructions.
20. It’ll start rooting your device and you should be able to see the ongoing processes on your screen.
21. Once your device’s been rooted, launch the SuperSU app from your Menu and let it update binary files.
22. Turn OFF your device so you can flash the stock kernel back.
23. Turn it back on by holding down Volume DOWN+Power buttons together.
24. Press the Volume UP button and you should be in Download mode.
25. Launch the Odin tool available on the Desktop of your PC.
26. Click on PDA and choose the Stock Kernel file available on your Desktop.
27. Make sure the Repartition box isn’t checked in the tool.
28. Hit Start and it’ll start flashing the stock kernel on your device.
29. Reboot your device once the kernel’s been flashed.
30. You’re all done!
Excellent! After quite a lengthy root procedure, you now have full root-access on your Galaxy S4 with the stock kernel!
