How To: Run Android on Your Windows Mobile Phone
So you have a Windows Mobile device and you would like to try out Android on it? No problem thanks to the guys over at XDADevelopers.
I. Before You Begin
1. Right now, this ONLY works on the following HTC phones:
HD (Blackstone)
Touch Diamond
Touch Pro (and Fuze)
Touch Diamond2
Touch Pro2 (and Tilt2)
2. This runs off of your SD card as a program so no worries about messing with your phone’s internal systems.
3. There are a lot of features that don’t currently work in Android for Windows Mobile so do not ask when they will work. They will work when the devs figure out how to get them to work (like Bluetooth and the camera for example). You can check back at our Windows Mobile Downloads section and click on the download link to see if the app has been updated and features have been added.
II. Download the Necessary Files
1. Download HTC Xdandroid from our downloads section:
Windows Mobile Application Downloads
2. Save the .cab file to your SD card.
III. Install and Run Android
1. Install the file by double clicking on the .cab file you just downloaded in your phone’s file explorer.
2. When asked where to install it, make sure to install it on the SD Card, not the phones internal memory.
3. Once it is installed, simply goto your phone’s Program Files menu and click on the Android icon to start Android (the first time you run it will take over 5 minutes to boot up, but after that it will be faster).
4. Enjoy!
If they get this going for the HD2 I might just have to get one 🙂
is there any one who tell me about that problem while iam installing zdandroid in my htc touch diamond phone, its always give an error that “you must have to unzip rootfs”, Â so could you help me and mail me my hotmail account “khalid_k8629@hotmail.com”
Guess this won’t be a good enough solution for Android on a HD2…
Still too many bugs & missing features…
Don’t forget the Gen.Y.DualBoot App…
http://www.mobiletechworld.com/2010/01/28/dual-booting-android-on-a-windows-mobile-smartphone/
Almost went with a HD2 but I don’t think it would make for a good Android experience…
Any chance of the guyz @ XDA figuring out how to fully install Android on the HD2 & getting rid of Wimo on it all together… Dual Boot would not be bad if it was full featured Android……
Y314K,
Yea, I found out that Gen.y is actually a UI for the XDAndroid program I posted here, it just allows for a nice UI when booting up to choose your OS or decide which OS to boot into automatically.
I figured the less steps the better for most people, and the XDAndroid page I linked to updates regularly and the Gen.Y doesn’t seem to.
Still a very cool program and if anyone wants to use it instead just follow Y314K’s link above.
Thanks man!
yeah… Anything that makes it auto can’t be that bad… Since it’s just a Boot App/Boot UI… Updating is not needed as much… At least so far… From the models that are capable of running the HTC XDAndroid…
Another thing why I might go with the Nexus One instead of the HD2… If you look at PhoneDog’s HD2 vs. Nexus One… The screen quality on the Nexus one is much better.. like 25% better(pulls % out of hat)…
See for your self…

@sunny You can run android on the first att tilt 8925. I was running it with haret on my tilt before upgrading to the tilt 2.
Yes, this type of phone is going to common now.
Dual System: Windows and Google Android. I see a cell phone on CNDIGIT’s website, they provides the model call Diamond T5353. Which has Dual System (windows and google android), GPS and WIFI etc..

hey i got it to run on the touch pro 2 tmobile version but i have no signal and it dont even complete the search for network what do i do
will i be able to install and run the android market apps after installing this to my HTC tilt 2?
baLLA773,
i had the same problem with my HTC TP2 for sprint but there is a certain way you need to start your phone. one guy told me to take the SD card out but that didn’t work so i just tampered with the SD card and taking it in and out while booting the phone up and i eventually got it.
you need to change the log in the startup file before you run haret.

Whenever it tells me to press the android to begin, i press it, and nothing happens?

Touch Diamond does not consist of memory slot, it’s only 4Gb of internal memory. Then how to follow these steps??? Pls copy your reply to harindra.t@gmail:disqus .com too
