How to Send Read Receipts Only When You Begin to Type in iOS 7 (Video)

Don’t you hate it when you check one of your friends iMessages but you’re not quite ready to respond then later you get an angry text about how they saw you read it? Well, if so, you should probably reconsider your friends, but you can also try out this little jailbreak tweak that allows you to set it so that read receipts are only sent when you begin to type instead of when you open the message. The tweak is called TypeRead, it costs $0.99, and has a few other features to check out. Here we go.

I. Jailbreak your iPhone/iPad

1. To do this procedure you must be jailbroken. If you aren’t, you can head to our How to Jailbreak iOS 7.1.2 (the latest version at the time of writing this). Once done with that procedure and you have Cydia installed, head back here to continue.

II. Install TypeRead

1. Open Cydia.

2. Tap Search in the bottom right corner.

3. Type in TypeRead.

4. Tap on TypeRead when it shows up.

5. Tap Purchase at the top right and follow the prompts to login and purchase using your preferred method.

6. Tap Close when you’ve paid.

7. Tap Install where Purchase used to be.

8. Tap Restart.

III. Use TypeRead

1. Go to Settings > TypeRead.

2. Tap Enable.

3. The tweak begins working automatically.

4. You can also change some settings to further customize a few options by going to Settings > TypeRead.
