How to Translate Web Pages in Safari in iOS 8

So you just did some Googling finding information about a topic, arrived on a great looking page, but unfortunately it’s not in the language that you speak? Well, short of searching through your contacts for a friend from that country and trying to get a translator that way, how can you do that on your iOS device running iOS 8 as quickly as possible?

There’s an app called Bing that allows you to do just that (and yeah, it’s the Bing app from Microsoft). It adds a small icon in Safari for you to translate webpages. Here’s how you can get this on your device:

1. Tap on App Store.

2. Tap on the Search icon located in the bottom-right corner.

3. Search for and tap on Bing.

4. Tap on FREE.

5. Tap on INSTALL. Enter your Apple login details if it asks you for the same. It should begin downloading on your device.

6. When the app’s installed, launch Safari on your device.

7. Go to any webpage that you wish to be translated into your native language. Then, tap on the Share icon.

8. In the bottom row, swipe left until you see the More option. Tap on it.

9. On the next screen, tap on the Bing Translator switch and it should be enabled. Then, tap on Done.

10. Tap on the Share icon again and then tap on Bing Translator.

11. You should now have a translated version of the webpage you were reading in Safari on your device.

And there you go! From now on, you can read any content that isn’t in your native language using the Bing Translator app.
