How to Unroot the Dell Streak 5
Not so long ago, we did a guide to install ClockworkMod Recovery on the Dell Streak 5 and in the following guide, we will show you how you can unroot the Dell Streak 5 device. Unrooting is as easy as flashing a custom ROM and our guide makes it much easier. Here you go:
I. Before You Begin:
1. You should have rooted your device using the procedure given here.
2. Make sure your device has at least 60% of battery life left.
II. Downloading Required Files:
1. Stock ROM (Download the latest version available)
2. Stock Recovery (Download the Recovery matching with the Stock ROM)
3. Fastboot
III. Installing Stock Recovery on the Dell Streak 5:
1. Download and place all three files onto your Desktop.
2. Extract files from the Fastboot archive to your Desktop.
3. Turn OFF your device using the Power button.
4. Reboot your device into the Fastboot mode. To do so, press and hold Camera+Power buttons together.
5. Choose the Fastboot mode from the top-right corner.
6. Connect your device to your PC using the USB cable.
7. Open a Command Prompt Window on your Desktop. To do so, press and hold Shift button on your keyboard and right-click on any empty area on the screen, then choose the Open command window here option.
8. Type in the following command into the Command Prompt Window. Make sure to change the recovery.img with the actual recovery image name.
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
9. Enter the following command to reboot your device:
fastboot reboot
10. Your device should reboot.
You have successfully installed the Stock Recovery on your device. The half-part is done to unroot your device, let’s move to the second-half part to complete the unroot process.
IV. Unrooting the Dell Streak 5:
1. Rename the Stock ROM file you downloaded from the website to update.pkg.
2. Connect your device to your PC using the USB cable.
3. Transfer the update.pkg file to the root folder of your device’s internal storage.
4. Disconnect your device from the PC after the file has successfully been transferred.
5. Turn OFF your device using the Power button.
6. Reboot your device into the Recovery Mode. To do so, press and hold Volume UP+Volume DOWN+Power buttons together.
7. Select 2. Software upgrade via Update.pkg on SD Card from the Menu.
8. Press the Camera button on your device and the unrooting process will start.
9. Within a few seconds, your device will be unrooted.
Congrats ! You have successfully unrooted your Dell Streak 5. It is now running on the Stock ROM with Stock Recovery, that’s called complete unroot.
