How to Unroot the HTC Droid Eris

There’s a simple way to unroot HTC devices by using the official RUU, however, some users are facing issues while installing stock firmware using the RUU on their HTC Droid Eris smartphone. If you are one of those users and looking for a working method to unroot your device, here we have something useful for you. The following procedure shows you how you can unroot your HTC Droid Eris smartphone and get it back to the stock firmware.

I. Before You Begin:

1. You should have rooted your device using the procedure given here.

2. This will reinstate the warranty that you lost during the root process and take you back to the stock firmware.

II. Downloading Required Files:

1. Stock ROM (Download link is given in the first post)

III. Unrooting the HTC Droid Eris:

1. Download the Stock ROM file to the Desktop of your PC.

2. Connect your device to the PC using the USB cable.

3. Transfer the Stock ROM file from Desktop to the root folder of your device’s SD card.

4. After the file is transferred to your device, disconnect it from the PC.

5. Turn OFF your device.

6. Reboot your device into the Recovery mode. To do so, press and hold Volume UP+Power buttons together.

7. Choose the Wipe option from the Recovery menu.

8. Select Wipe data/factory reset and Wipe dalvik-cache options.

9. Now, from the main menu of the recovery, choose Flash zip from sdcard option.

10. Navigate to the place where you have put the Stock ROM file and select it for flashing.

11. Reboot your device after the Stock ROM is installed on it.

Congratulations ! Your device has been restored to the Stock ROM that means you can now start using your device as you were doing when you bought it !
