How to Unroot the HTC EVO 3D (GSM)

We recently published a guide on how you can unroot the CDMA variant of the HTC EVO 3D smartphone and in this guide, we will show you how you can unroot the GSM variant of the device. The process to unroot the device doesn’t seem to be much tricky and by using our steps, you will easily be able to unroot your device. Here’s how you can do that.

I. Before You Begin:

1. You must have rooted your device using the Revolutionary Method given in this post.

2. If you follow all the steps carefully, you should end up with an unrooted device.

II. Downloading Required Files:

1. PC86IMG (Download from the Download Here section)

2. Fastboot

III. Unrooting the HTC EVO 3D (GSM):

1. Download and place both the files on the Desktop of your PC. It will help you easily locate the files in later steps.

2. Connect your device to the PC using the USB cable.

3. Transfer the PC86IMG file to the root folder of your device’s SD card.

4. Disconnect the device from the PC after you have transferred the file.

5. Disable Fastboot on your device from the Menu>>Settings>>Power path.

6. Turn OFF your device.

7. Reboot your device into the bootloader mode. To do so, press and hold Volume DOWN+Power buttons together.

8. Your device should detect the PC86IMG file automatically, hit the Volume UP key and flashing will begin.

9. Reboot your device after the file is flashed on it.

10. When your device starts up, open up the File Manager and delete the PC86IMG file you just flashed.

11. Turn OFF your device once again.

12. Press and hold the Volume DOWN+Power buttons together and your device will boot up into the bootloader mode.

13. Choose Fastboot mode from the bootloader menu.

14. Connect your device to the PC using the USB cable.

15. Extract files from the Fastboot archive to your Desktop.

16. Open a Command Prompt Window on your Desktop by pressing and holding the Shift key on your keyboard and right-click on any empty area on the screen, choose Open command window here option.

17. Type in the following command into the Command Prompt Window:

fastboot oem writesecureflag 3

18. Issue the following command to reboot your device:

fastboot reboot

19. You are done now !

Your device has successfully been unrooted and now it runs on the official Stock ROM with no tweaks and modifications.
