How to Unroot the Huawei Ascend P7
If you’re tired of using a custom ROM on your Ascend P7 and wish to go back to the stock ROM, here’s how you can go about doing that. Unrooting your device using the procedure below will let you enjoy the pure official stock firmware on your device that came preloaded on your device when you purchased it.
Unrooting is the process of removing root access, a custom recovery (if you have one), and just trying to get the device back to as close to stock as possible.
Some of the reasons for unrooting your Huawei Ascend P7 are:
- Sending in the device for warranty (most, but not all unrooting procedures reinstate the manufacturer warranty if you had one before rooting).
- Starting over (simply undoing everything you did while rooted so you can have a clean slate to start over).
- Fix any issues (Maybe rooting messed something up? No problem, unrooting will take care of it for you).
Ready to get started? Here’s how to unroot the Huawei Ascend P7:
I. Before You Begin
1. You should’ve rooted your device using the procedure given here.
2. This should flash the stock firmware on your device.
II. Downloading Required Files
1. Download Stock Firmware for your device and save it to your desktop.

III. Unrooting the Huawei Ascend P7
1. Extract files from Stock Firmware archive by right-clicking on it and selecting Extract here.
2. Plug in your device to your PC using the USB cable.
3. Open your device’s storage on your PC and create a new folder named dload. It should be on the root of your SD card.
4. Now copy the update.app file that you extracted to your desktop over to your newly created dload folder.
5. Once copied, disconnect your device from your PC.
6. Turn OFF your device.
7. Turn it back on by holding down Volume UP, Volume DOWN, and Power buttons together.
8. It should automatically begin flashing the firmware on your device.
9. When the firmware’s been flashed, reboot your device.
10. You’re all set!
Awesome! Your Ascend P7 is now unrooted and is running the official stock firmware.
