How to Unroot the Samsung Galaxy Light (T-Mobile)
Maybe you’ve had enough playing with your rooted Samsung Galaxy Light (T-Mobile)? Maybe you want to go back to stock? No worries, this guide should help you unroot your Galaxy Light and get it back to stock. Here you go:
Unrooting is the process of removing root access, a custom recovery (if you have one), and just trying to get the device back to as close to stock as possible.
Some of the reasons for unrooting your Samsung Galaxy Light (T-Mobile)Â are:
- Sending in the device for warranty (most, but not all unrooting procedures reinstate the manufacturer warranty if you had one before rooting).
- Starting over (simply undoing everything you did while rooted so you can have a clean slate to start over).
- Fix any issues (Maybe rooting messed something up? No problem, unrooting will take care of it for you).
Ready to get started? Here’s how to unroot the Samsung Galaxy Light (T-Mobile):
I. Before You Begin
1. You should’ve rooted your device using the procedure given here.
2. This should only work on Windows based PCs.
3. You should’ve appropriate drivers installed on your PC. If you haven’t, you can download and install the latest drivers from here.
4. This only works for the SGH-T399 variant of the device.
II. Downloading Required Files
1. Download Odin and save it to your desktop.
2. Download the appropriate stock firmware for your device and save it to your desktop.
III. Unrooting the Samsung Galaxy Light (T-Mobile)
1. Extract files from Odin and Stock Firmware to your desktop by right-clicking on it and selecting Extract here.
2. Double-click on Odin executable and it’ll launch.
3. Click on PDA and choose the stock firmware file available on your desktop.
4. Make sure Repartition is unchecked in the Odin.
5. Checkmark Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time.
6. Turn OFF your device.
7. Turn it back on by holding down Volume DOWN, Home, and Power buttons together.
8. Press Volume UP and you should be in Download mode.
9. Plug in your device to your PC using the USB cable.
10. Hit Start in the Odin and it’ll start flashing the firmware on your device.
11. When the firmware’s flashed, your device should automatically reboot.
12. You’re all set!
Brilliant! Your Samsung Galaxy Light (T-Mobile variant) is now unrooted. You’re now running the official stock firmware on your device.

I used the rooting method to root my metropcs version of this phone, but now I having issues with not being able to connect to mobile network,missing calls,texts,etc…just an overall bad situation…I came here looking to unroot it,but none of the stock firmware options are compatible with my device. I realize I took a risk doing this even though it clearly states tmobile and not tmobile + it’s other prepaid companies,but just inquiring if anyone knew if there is a way to unroot the metropcs version or am I S.O.L?…thanks

We’re sorry to hear that you’re unable to access your device.
The procedure clearly states that it only works for the T-Mobile variant of the device. You shouldn’t have used it on your MetroPCS variant.

We did some research for your model, but unfortunately there’s no stock ROM for your device, yet.
Meanwhile, I’d suggest you to flash a custom ROM (if one’s available) on your device to get the calls and texts working.

Yeah, no such luck… I looked for a custom rom as well with no luck…I think I’m going to just try to do an update via Samsung and cross my fingers… I know most likely I’ll soft or perma brick my device, but at the current cost of only $30+15 for ESN changeover off contract so I can afford to just buy another if this happens, thanks again for you’re time and help and keep up the great work!!
