How to Unroot the Samsung Galaxy S3 Neo Plus

Maybe you’ve had enough playing with your rooted Samsung Galaxy S3 Neo Plus? Maybe you want to send in your device for warranty reasons? Either way, this procedure should help you. It teaches how you can unroot your Galaxy S3 Neo Plus and get it back to stock. It’ll reinstate your warranty as well as restore all of the system apps that you may have deleted after rooting your device. Here you go:

Unrooting is the process of removing root access, a custom recovery (if you have one), and just trying to get the device back to as close to stock as possible.

Some of the reasons for unrooting your Samsung Galaxy S3 Neo Plus are:

  • Sending in the device for warranty (most, but not all unrooting procedures reinstate the manufacturer warranty if you had one before rooting).
  • Starting over (simply undoing everything you did while rooted so you can have a clean slate to start over).
  • Fix any issues (Maybe rooting messed something up? No problem, unrooting will take care of it for you).

Ready to get started? Here’s how to unroot the Samsung Galaxy S3 Neo Plus:

I. Before You Begin

1. You should’ve rooted your device using the procedure given here.

2. This only works for the GT-I9301I and GT-I9301Q variants of the device.

3. This procedure should only work on Windows based PCs.

4. You should’ve required drivers installed on your PC. If you don’t, download and install the latest drivers from here.

II. Downloading Required Files

1. Download Odin and save it to your desktop.

2. Download the appropriate stock firmware for your device and save it to your desktop.

Stock Firmware for GT-I9301I

OR

Stock Firmware for GT-I9301Q

III. Unrooting the Samsung Galaxy S3 Neo Plus

1. Extract files from both Odin and Stock Firmware to your desktop by right-clicking on each of them and selecting Extract here.

2. Double-click on Odin executable and it’ll launch.

3. Click on PDA and choose Stock Firmware available on your desktop. It’s the firmware file that you extracted from the archive and not the archive itself.

4. Uncheck Repartition if it’s already checked in the Odin.

5. Checkmark the boxes that say Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time.

6. Turn OFF your device.

7. Turn it back on by holding down Volume DOWN, Home, and Power buttons together.

8. Press Volume UP and you should be in Download mode.

9. Plug in your device to your PC via USB cable.

10. Hit Start in the Odin and it’ll start flashing the selected stock firmware on your device.

11. When the firmware’s flashed, your device should automatically reboot.

12. You’re all set!

Great! Your Samsung Galaxy S3 Neo Plus is now unrooted. It’s now back to the stock firmware with all the factory settings.
