How to Unroot the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 (3G)

Maybe you’ve messed-up your Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 (3G)? Maybe you don’t find all those stylish custom ROMs to be of any use to you? No worries, here’s how to unroot your device and get it back to stock.

Unrooting is the process of removing root access, a custom recovery (if you have one), and just trying to get the device back to as close to stock as possible.

Some of the reasons for unrooting your Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 (3G) are:

  • Sending in the device for warranty (most, but not all unrooting procedures reinstate the manufacturer warranty if you had one before rooting).
  • Starting over (simply undoing everything you did while rooted so you can have a clean slate to start over).
  • Fix any issues (Maybe rooting messed something up? No problem, unrooting will take care of it for you).

Ready to get started? Here’s how to unroot the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 (3G):

I. Before You Begin

1. You should’ve rooted your device using the procedure given here.

2. This should flash the stock firmware on your device.

3. This only works for the SM-T531 model of the device.

4. You should have a Windows based PC to do this procedure.

5. You should have required drivers installed on your PC. If you don’t, download the latest drivers from here.

II. Downloading Required Files

1. Download Odin and save it to your desktop.

2. Download the appropriate stock firmware for your device and save it to your desktop.

III. Unrooting the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 (3G)

1. Extract files from Odin as well as Stock Firmware to your desktop by right-clicking on each of them and selecting Extract here.

2. Launch Odin by double-clicking on its executable file.

3. Click on PDA and choose the stock firmware file that you just extracted to your desktop.

4. Uncheck Repartition if it’s already checked in the Odin.

5. You can checkmark the boxes that say Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time.

6. Turn OFF your device.

7. Turn it back on by holding down Volume DOWN, Home, and Power buttons together.

8. Press Volume UP and your device should reboot into Download mode.

9. Plug in your device to your PC using the USB cable.

10. Click on Start in the Odin and it’ll start flashing the stock firmware on your device.

11. When the firmware’s flashed, your device will automatically reboot.

12. And you’re all done!

Congrats! Your device is now unrooted and is now running the pure stock firmware that came preloaded on it when you bought it off the retail store.
