How to Unroot the Samsung Galaxy Y Duos Lite (GT-S5302)
If you aren’t fed-up of using root and changing custom ROMs on your device, you’re good. But if you’re one of them who’s flashed a custom ROM but doesn’t like it too much and wants to unroot the device and go back to stock, the procedure below is what you need. Just follow it and you should be able to unroot your device.
Some of the reasons for unrooting your Samsung Galaxy Y Duos Lite are:
- Sending in the device for warranty (most, but not all unrooting procedures reinstate the manufacturer warranty if you had one before rooting).
- Starting over (simply undoing everything you did while rooted so you can have a clean slate to start over).
- Fix any issues (Maybe rooting messed something up? No problem, unrooting will take care of it for you).
Ready to get started? Here’s how to unroot the Samsung Galaxy Y Duos Lite:
I. Before You Begin
1. You should’ve rooted your device using the procedure given here.
2. This only works for the GT-S5302 model number. To find out what model you have, head to Menu > Settings > About phone on your device and your model number should be listed there.
3. This procedure only works on Windows based PCs.
4. You should have required drivers installed on your PC. If you haven’t, head over to the Samsung website and get the drivers installed first.
II. Downloading Required Files
1. Download Odin and save it to your desktop.
2. Download the appropriate stock firmware for your device and save it to your desktop.
III. Unrooting the Samsung Galaxy Y Duos Lite (GT-S5302)
1. Extract files from Odin as well as Stock Firmware archives over to your desktop.
2. Double-click on Odin executable and it’ll open.
3. Click on PDA and choose the stock firmware file you have extracted to your desktop.
4. Make sure Repartition is unchecked in the Odin.
5. Checkmark the boxes that say Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time.
6. Turn OFF your device.
7. Turn it back on by holding down Volume DOWN, Home, and Power buttons together.
8. Your device should reboot into Download mode.
9. Plug in your device to your PC using the USB cable.
10. One of the boxes in Odin should turn yellow indicating your device’s been recognized by your PC.
11. Hit Start in the Odin and it’ll start flashing the firmware on your device.
12. Once the firmware’s been flashed, your device should automatically reboot.
13. And you’re all set!
Congrats! Your Samsung Galaxy Y Duos Lite (GT-S5302) is now running the stock firmware and is unrooted.
