How to Unroot the ZTE Zmax

If circumstances force you, then you should consider unrooting your ZTE Zmax. Unrooting is the process of removing root-access from your device, so as to prevent installations of any root-only apps that may potentially modify your system files. Once you have unrooted your device, you’ll no longer be able to use any root-only apps on it, hence no custom ROMs and custom Mods.

It’s ideal to unroot your device when you’re returning it to the service centre, as unrooting reinstates the warranty that you lost when you rooted your device. Also, it helps you gain more bucks for your device if you’re going to sell it as unrooted phones are considered to be more safer than the rooted ones (’cause their system files are intact).

You may also want to unroot your device if you’re giving it to your kid as a gift on his birthday. This is to prevent him from accidentally modifying system files that may make your device unresponsive (what if your kid ends-up deleting a system file and your device won’t boot-up?). To prevent all of these scenarios, it’s recommended you remove the root-access from the device and then allow it to be used by your kids or friends, as the worst they can do is uninstall apps and remove your personal photos from the gallery. They won’t be able to touch the system files and hence you’re safe.

Unrooting helps you solve most of the software related issues on your device. For instance, if you’re facing frequent app crashes or the game that you really wish to play just doesn’t launch and you think it’s due to the software, just flash back the stock firmware and all the problems will be gone. And, if you have uninstalled a system app that you want back now, unrooting should help you get it back. It’ll re-install all of the system apps on your device for you to use.

So, here’s how you can go about unrooting your ZTE Zmax:

I. Before You Begin

1. You should have rooted your device using the procedure given here. If you didn’t use it to root your device, the following procedure may or may not work for you.

2. This doesn’t flash a stock firmware on your device. This only removes root-access from your device. This will NOT work if you’ve flashed a custom ROM on your device.

II. Unrooting the ZTE Zmax

1. Launch SuperSU from your App Drawer.

2. Tap on Settings.

SuperSU-Settings

3. Scroll all the way down until you see Full unroot. Tap on it.

SuperSU-Full-unroot

4. Tap Continue.

5. It should begin unrooting your device.

6. When it’s done, reboot your device.

7. You’re now unrooted!

Your ZTE Zmax is now unrooted. It’s no longer rooted and you can’t install any root-only apps on it as it just won’t accept them. If you’ve unrooted your device for one of the reasons mentioned above, you’re now safe and are ready to either send your device to the service centre, sell it off, or give it to your kid and let him play with it for a while. You won’t be shocked when your kid returns the device to you, believe us!
