How to Use Amazon Appstore for Android

There are a number of third party app stores for Android phones, but it is difficult to know which ones to trust. Amazon has created its own third party store and made it available for all Android devices, ensuring security and quality.

I. Getting the Appstore

1. The first thing you will need to do is go to settings -> applications and select ‘Unknown sources’ to allow your phone to install third party markets.

2. Next thing you’ll need to do is go to the Amazon App Store to install the APK for the appstore.

3. You’ll see a ‘Download now’ button and you will get a popup that asks you to save the APK, press ‘ok.’

4. Pull down the notification bar and click on the Amazon Appstore file.

5. Here you will be prompted to install the Appstore, click ‘Install’ at the bottom.

6. When it is done installing you will see a green check mark with ‘Application installed,’ press open or done at the bottom. The app is now available for use.

II. Using the Appstore

1. Now that you have downloaded the Amazon Appstore to your phone you can install apps. Many of the apps will be similar to those found in the Google Play Market, but one advantage is that Amazon offers a free paid app for free every day.

2. You will be alerted when there is an update to an app installed through Amazon and you will update through the Amazon Appstore, not the Google Play Store.

3. Your apps downloaded through Amazon will not show up as installed when you are in the Google Play Store.
