HTC Pico – a low-end Android phone for the budget minded

If you have seen or heard about the Wildfire S, we don’t need to tell you anymore about the newly uncovered HTC Pico.  While they may be different in appearances, both the devices are almost identical in specs, with a 3.2-inch HVGA touchscreen display, a 600MHz CPU backed up by 384MB RAM, a 5MP camera and a 1230 mAh battery to power the whole deal.

The only things that stand out from the whole affair are its “face detection capability,” some sort of control on data usage and HTC Sense Zero, which sounds like a dumbed down version of Sense UI for lower end devices.  Underneath the Sense Zero UI lies Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS, which could be the one thing that might convince someone to buy this handset.

The HTC Pico will most probably be limited to Europe and Asia, given its 900/2100MHz 3G network bands, but will it find a good footing in those regions pitted against one of its own kind, the Wildfire S?  Time will definitely tell.
