Introducing The AT&T HTC Status: First Deeply Integrated Facebook Phone
We first reported on this device as the HTC ChaCha and patiently awaited its proper introduction. Now AT&T has appropriately branded the handset the HTC Status. The coined “Facebook phone” made its official debut via its very own Facebook page today and is scheduled to hit AT&T stores this summer.
The phone is marketed with one thing in mind, Facebook, Facebook, and you guessed it, Facebook. Jason Mackenzie, President, HTC Americas had this to say about the device,
“HTC Status brings a Facebook experience to people who want to share their experiences with their friends faster and easier than ever before. With a dedicated Facebook share button combined with the hallmark HTC Sense experience, HTC Status makes it easy for people to stay connected to the things that are important to them.”
The dedicated Facebook share button enables users to instantly post on their wall, change a status update, check in, and share current music selections. Additionally, the device sports lock screen shortcuts, the ability to view a contact’s Facebook profile on screen before you answer their call, and photo editing effects.
