iOS App of the Day: Color Text Messages+
Sometimes sending a plain traditional sms text or iMessage just isn’t enough. It would be great to have some different text effects to choose from once in a while, especially if you were in the mood to be creative or just wanted to spice things up. With the Color Text Messages+ app for iOS you can customize your messages with various color, text, and background effects to choose from. What’s even better is that for a limited time this app is free to download.

How it works:
After you download Color Text Messages+ you will see the home screen which has four primary tabs: text effects, solid background effects, patterned background effects, and font effects. Tapping on one of the four tabs will bring up the individual effect options. To create a message select your font color, font type, and then select either a solid color background or a patterned background. As you are creating your message the preview changes as you change the different options. Once you have completed the message tap on the send button. This will give you further instructions on how to send this to one of your contacts or a group message.
To send a Color Text Message open up your iPhone’s message app, choose the recipient, hold down on the message field and click paste. Your Color Text Message will appear and from there just hit send.
Conclusion:
Color Text Messages+ has dozens of different text variations that you can apply to liven up your texts. The app allows you to quickly switch between different combinations of effects and view a realistic preview of the message while you are in the app. I wish this app had the ability to sync with the iPhone’s keyboard so you could eliminate all the steps it takes to send a Color Text Message. For a free app, this one serves its purpose if you want to send a unique text message once in a while, but not for conversations that you need to reply quickly to. I use it when I want to invite a group of friends over for dinner, send a thoughtful text to a loved one, or an “I miss you” message to someone far away.
