iOS App of the Day: Twizgrid

So you’re a self-proclaimed Twitter maniac but wish there was a way to only see the photos people tweet? Well now you can do just that thanks to a brand new app. Twizgrid for iOS allows you to view Twitter in a uniquely different perspective. Instead of simply displaying a feed of tweets, the Twizgrid app showcases only the photos people have tweeted in a sleek grid-like designed layout. The app also offers up specific search options including geolocation, keyword, or hashtag. These search options allow you to actually discover interesting photos based on your passions or simply a geolocation you’re curious about.

Pros:

  • Sleek gallery of Twitter images
  • Search Twitter images for keywords or hashtag
  • View photos from followers and following
  • Curated albums
  • Detailed photo view with corresponding Tweet
  • Enhance any search with geolocation information
  • Sleek integrated map feature to change and move geolocations
  • View photo grid from individual Twitter accounts
  • Compose new Tweets and upload photos directly from Twizgrid
  • Profile and landscape orientations
  • Copy images to clipboard
  • Save images to photo album
  • Tweet images directly from Twizgrid
  • Email images from Twizgrid
  • Follow Twitter users directly from Twizgrid
  • Safe search mode
  • Supports multiple Twitter accounts
  • Select default Twitter account
  • Ability to clear all search history

Cons:

  • An active Twitter account is necessary to comment or re-tweet images shown on Twizgrid

How it works:

Twizgrid allows you the option to either view an assorted collection of photos from the entire Twitter site, or you can filter your own specific search down by the category. You also have the option to just look at the photos of the people you are following or just the photos of your set of followers. What’s cool is that if you are just looking for photos taken in a specific geographic location, you can filter out the images that way too. Twizgrid can access your specific location and present you with photos taken in your local area, or you can select a place on Google Maps and view photos within a mile from your chosen location. Criteria search is a great way to look up pictures of whatever it is you are interested in at that moment. You can search for pictures of wooden iPhone cases, bedazzled shoes, or sushi. Whatever you can snap a photo of and tweet, Twizgrid will let you search for it and find just that.

Conclusion:
Twizgrid is a must have app for anyone who is addicted to Twitter and enjoys the photographic side of the social site or just life in general. After spending some time with Twizgrid I might just leave Twitter behind all together. Sorry Twitter. You can do everything right from Twizgrid, and the search features really provide a unique photo experience that might have been otherwise lost with just the Twitter service. Instead of simply viewing tweets you now have an artistic gallery of photos that you can directly interact with in a sleek and dynamic interface.
