Latest iOS 6.1.3 Update Restricts Evasion Jailbreak, For Now That Is
Apple has finally managed to restrict the wildly popular Evasi0n jailbreak, for now that is. Apple released a new update, iOS 6.1.3, which resolves the security bug that allowed a person to bypass the lock screen and make calls, listen to voice mail, and view contact photos. More importantly, the iOS 6.1.3 update also cures several holes that the Evasion team capitalized on for their recently released untethered jailbreak. The Evasion jailbreak is compatible on all iOS devices including the latest iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. This particular jailbreak proved to be more successful than anyone imagined with more than 7 million downloads in the first week it was released.
However, now anyone who upgrades to iOS 6.1.3 will no longer be able to use Evasi0n to jailbreak their devices. And once on version 6.1.3, newer Apple devices cannot be downgraded to a previous iOS version.
It’s not all woes for jailbreak fans as older Apple devices powered by an A4 or earlier processor can still be hacked using the latest version of Redsn0w. Those include devices like the iPhone 4, the iPhone 3GS, and the fourth-generation iPod Touch. The downside here is that the jailbreak is a tethered one. So if your mobile device powers down, you’ll need to reconnect it to your computer to run the jailbreak again.
While this certainly throws a wrench into Evasion’s rocket into jailbreak infamy, we’re sure that Apple’s latest iOS update simply provides the team with new found motivation to work harder on their next masterpiece.
