Leaked Document Shows Verizon To Unveil “VZ Edge” Upgrade Plan, Allows Users to Upgrade Once Phone is 50% Paid Off
According to Droid Life, Verizon will introduce a new upgrade promotion on August 25 called “VZ Edge” that will allow customers to upgrade their phones much more frequently to “stay on the leading edge of technology.”
A leaked training slide (shown above) illustrates that Verizon is offering up VZ Edge as a way for customers to avoid signing contracts and upgrade fees, while remaining on the “best network” and with the latest devices. Specific details are still unknown at this time but the slide does point out that if customers are on a monthly payment plan, they can upgrade to a new device at any time once they have paid off 50% of their current phone. While the document doesn’t illicitly state this, it looks like Verizon plans to offer the new VZ Edge plan for users who participate in the device payment plan only. August 25th isn’t too far away so we’re sure to see more of the fine print on this plan in the coming days.
Big Red isn’t known for offering the cheapest data plans, so at least they are working to provide their offering customers upgrade options. Now with the new Edge plan Verizon users could upgrade more often without having to sign up for a new contract. That is really what it’s all about right?
