LG and GooPhone Team Up To Offer The First Tri-SIM Smartphones
If you’ve ever traveled internationally, then you probably understand the benefits of having a Dual-SIM phones. The issue becomes that even in regions where prepaid services are king, the Dual-SIM phone can sometimes fall short. That’s where GooPhone and LG come in, as the two have joined forces to launch the first line of tri-SIM smartphones based on a new MediaTek Triple-SIM chip.
Both the leaked GooPhone X1+ (shown above) and a variant of the Optimus L4 II can handle three phone lines without taking a huge battery drain. Don’t expect either tri-SIM phone to impress you in the spec department though. The X1+ modestly sports a 5-inch FWVGA display and a dual-core MT6572 processor, while the L4 II has a smaller 3.8-inch HVGA screen with an unknown 1GHz chip.
Even though the spec list won’t wow your socks off, at least you won’t have to worry about switching SIMS every time you cross over into a different time zone. Brazil is already selling the LG Optimus L4 II and the GooPhone X1+ is expected to ship to multiple countries within the next several days.
