LG Apex on US Cellular gets the Froyo update
The QWERTY-toting CDMA device launched last November has finally been deemed ready for the Android 2.2 update. With Froyo will come features that many US Cellular customers have been waiting for – WiFi tethering, faster downloads and other 2.2 goodies – sadly, the device will not be able to play Flash content even after the update.
Given its current position as a low/mid-segment Android device, we are assuming that this will be the last update ever for the LG Apex – on US Cellular and elsewhere too. Apex users yearning for something running Android 2.3 or better might want to take a look at other options on the carrier’s shelves. Still, Froyo is a big step-up compared to the fast-disappearing Eclair and brings a lot of previously unavailable features to the device.
