LG Thrill 4G priced and dated by AT&T, finally
After months of uncertainty and failed takeoffs, the Thrill 4G 3D smartphone (Optimus 3D for the rest of the world) for AT&T will finally see the light of day this September 4. At just $99, the price sounds reasonable for a device that does 3D without glasses and can cruise AT&T’s 4G waves with ease.
Other specs do fall short compared to recent entrants like the Sensation 4G or the sought-after Galaxy S II – you’ll get a 1GHz processor coupled with 512MB of RAM, and 8GB of built-in storage space which can be taken up to 32GB using its microSD slot. The standard connectivity options like WiFi, Bluetooth and aGPS are a given but it’s the 4.3-inch 480×800 pixel display and its 3D capabilities that makes this device special. Users can also create their own 3D content using its dual 5-megapixel lens at 720p or shoot plain old 2D video/images at 1080p.
With the Galaxy S II already becoming the most coveted Android smartphone this year, will 3D work its magic this late in the game? We’ll wait and see.
