LTE toggle for HTC Thunderbolt helps save battery life
Don’t get us wrong, we like the uberfast downloads that LTE/4G networks allow and equally love the HTC Thunderbolt, but with its 1400mAH battery, the device just doesn’t last for more than about 2 hours if under constant use. Viable solutions could include an extra battery pack but a better option would the ability to switch off 4G and surf the 3G waves for a while, a fair tradeoff for longer lasting battery life. Enter LTE OnOFF, an app which does just that. Developed by AndIRC, this free application gives Thunderbolt users the capability to turn off 4G and switch to CDMA 3G, hence stopping the device from constantly looking for a 4G connection, saving battery life in the process.
The app is designed for the Verizon Thunderbolt but works on the Motorola Droid Bionic, Samsung Stealth and the LG Revolution just as well for now. Look for it on your device in the Android Market or get it here.
