MediaTek Unwraps Quad-Core MT8125: Processor Aimed At Budget Tablets
MediaTek has finally taken the wraps off of their new MT8125 chip, which is based on the well known formula of a quad-core Cortex-A7 processor and PowerVR Series5XT graphics. The MT8125 is notably improved clocking in at 1.5GHz. That extra speed enables the chip to support up to a 1,920 x 1,200 display on top of earlier support for 13MP cameras and 1080p videos.
MediaTek is keeping this chip focused on tablets allowing it to offer the SoC with basic EDGE cellular data, full HSPA+ or WiFi alone. Slabs like the Lenovo IdeaTab S6000 series are already sporting the chip, but still no word on what devices will sport it here in the U.S. Full PR follows below:
