Microsoft unveils Windows Phone Mango update
After NoDo, Microsoft’s long-awaited second update for its lagging Windows Phone OS has been revealed officially today. Whether the Mango update will boost Windows Phone sales and help gain Microsoft a much stronger foothold in the mobile realm remains to be seen but as Mr Steve Ballmer put it, the update is promised to bring more than 500 new features, which could be either an exaggeration or under-the-hood tweaks which might not affect user experience at all. Some of the major features that the update brings include:
- Skydrive integration with Office Mobile with 25GB of free online storage
- True third-party multitasking with “Back” button access to running apps
- Fully functional Internet Explorer 9 with HTML5 support
- Revamped tile UI
- Tighter Xbox Live integration
After the recent Skype acquisition, we were expecting to see it integrated into the update, but sadly nothing of the sort has been announced yet, but there is hope for the same in the future.
