Mobile Phone Industry Polarization Visualized in Revenue Chart: Samsung and Apple Dominate

It’s a reoccurring theme in today’s economic climate: the rich keep getting richer and well, the poor get poorer. The mobile industry is no exception and can now be visualized thanks to Benedict Evans of Enders Analysis  who recently published a chart that starkly illustrates just  how converse the mobile phone industry is, especially when it comes to the big eight branded vendors. On one extreme you’ll see Samsung and Apple and on the other side lies Nokia, HTC, LG, BlackBerry, Motorola and Sony. As Enders Analysis said themselves: “The polarization of the industry is pretty clear”. You can check out the Enders chart for yourself as shown at the top.

It’s important to note that the chart shows quarterly handset unit revenue at the 8 ‘branded’ handset OEMs, over the past three years. It includes all phones, not just smart.
