Motorola CEO Confirms A Cheaper Version of Motorola X In Development For Developing and Prepaid Markets

Motorola’s CEO Dennis Woodside spent some time directly after the Moto X launch to provide more information on what the Google owned company plans to do with their flagship. Woodside confirmed that Motorola plans to launch a cheaper version of the handset in the coming months. This affordable variant will be designed for developing and prepaid markets. The cheaper model will be ideal for the consumer who doesn’t want to shell out over $600 for a smartphone. Woodside in his own words:

The experience of devices you can get for less than $200 is subpar right now. We want everyone to have access to affordable smartphones.

Here in the US, it is expected that AT&T will sell the 16GB version of the Moto X off-contract for $575 and $629 for 32GB. While a more affordable version of the Moto X might see success for the prepaid and developing markets, we’ll have to wait and see what specs will get the axe to deem this phone cheap.
