Motorola CLIQ 2 getting updated, not Gingerbread
The update is reportedly not to Android 2.3, but to Android 2.2.2 and the Phandroid tipster test-driving the update also reported a few downsides to the deal:
first off the phone can’t be rooted with z4root the standard way to root the phone….
Next they added alot bloatware
Uno- The card game
T-mobile TV- requires data can’t use wifi
Family Room- Contact manager to contact family quicker Searches for contacts with same last name and the words like Mom and Dad
DriveSmart- Hands-free driving you can upgrade for free to allow it to automatically turn on when it thinks your driving
LookOut- The security app.
I get a force close when restarting my phone using adw ex
The System is less responsive.
System Version: 1.1.30
Android version:2.2.2
This doesn’t look much like an update if that is the state of things but since it is in the testing phase, we could expect many of these kinks to be ironed before it is released. As for the CLIQ2 ever getting Android 2.3 Gingerbread, don’t you think they would have outed that instead of Froyo 2.2.2 already?
I updated today, and now my scenes for my camera and video are disabled. Also disabled the use of my flash for a light when in video mode. What kind of crap is that?
I had the same problem, but I called tech support and they fixed it. All you have to the is go into your settings, then into the manage apps tabs, then select the camera app, and clear out your data. You will now be able to adjust your scenes.
OMG! Thanks so much! I read I had to reset the phone and I was freaking out with all the apps I got! Phone is still not the best but Im much happier again now! Thanks!
This is bad news. I started with the G1 when it very first arrived. Then for some reason I opted out of the HTC and went with the Cliq. After a serious of upgrades I’m now on the Cliq 2. I think it’s time to evolve away from Motorola back to HTC. They never brought Froyo to the Cliq and now apparently won’t be bringing GIngerbread to the Cliq 2. I had to root my Cliq just to get the features I wanted and now as far as I can’t tell I can’t even root and overclock my Cliq 2 yet to get my N64 emulator to run the way I would like it to. How long will Motorola leave it’s customers behind? It seems they only favor Verizon customers…if only T-Mobile would carry the Xperia Play I’d be a much happier person today.
