Netherlands Judge Rules In Apple’s Favor: Samsung Galaxy S, S II, and Ace Sales Halted For Now
It’s a dreary day for Samsung as a Netherlands judge has ruled in Apple’s favor during a patent infringement lawsuit. The judge has prohibited “the marketing of Samsung smartphones Galaxy S, S II and Ace for violation of Apple Inc. EP 2,059,868.” In the official Dutch press release, the court further explained that the judge has ruled to “ban trading of Samsung smartphones Galaxy S, S II and Ace,” adding that Samsung did not however violate patents with its Galaxy Tab 10.1.
The case concluded that while Samsung has infringed on Apple’s patent 2,059,868, which relates to a “method of scrolling,” it did not infringe on patent 2,098,948 for “recording a flag in connection with multiple screen taps.” The case also cleared Samsung of not infringing on Apple’s patent 1,964,022, which outlines dragging the slider to unlock the phone.
Samsung has reportedly agreed to replace the technology that has infringed on Apple’s patents which should eventually resolve the current sales ban on the Galaxy S, S II and Ace smartphones.
