Nexus 4 Sells Out In One Hour in the U.K., Puts A Strain on Google Play Site
Less than an hour after the Nexus 4 went on sale in the U.K. the device was already sold out. The LG built Android 4.2 device was released today in conjunction with its tablet counterparts the Nexus 7 and the Nexus 10. The Nexus 4 showing to be the most popular of the trio as consumers were reporting that the 8GB version of the device was showing as sold out just 15 minutes after being released.
The huge demand for the Nexus 4 appears to have put a strain onto Google’s online store, Google Play, as hopeful consumers reported the site being “slow, unresponsive, and full of errors”. Many users struggled to put the products into their shopping cart only to find the device “out of stock” by the time they made it to check out.
Right now the 8GB and 16GB versions of the Nexus 4 are shown as out of stock with a “Notify me!” button in place of a purchase option. Also out of stock is the 32GB Nexus 10 tablet, while the 16GB version of the slab is still available.
On the bright side, all versions of Google’s smaller tablet, the Nexus 7 (16GB, 32GB Wi+Fi, 32GB + HSPA+) are still in stock, and show a 3-5 business day shipping estimate.
