Official: Samsung Conquer 4G for Sprint

Sprint has announced its newest entrant to its mid-range Android segment – the Samsung Conquer 4G.  We say mid range not because this smartphone is majorly handicapped but because the definition of high end has changed in the recent months to phones with dual-cored CPUs and at least a gig of RAM snuck in, while the Conquer 4G comes equipped with a 1GHz processor.  One other weak point that adds to this is its 3.2 megapixel camera on the back, although oddly Samsung seems to have compensated that part with a 1.3mpx lens on the front for video chat.

Other specs are decent enough with support for Sprint’s WiMax 4G network, a 3.5-inch HVGA touchscreen display and a slide-out physical QWERTY keypad accompanied by the usual bevy of connectivity options.  There’s also Gingerbread 2.3 operating system running the whole deal, so the phone will be on the latest Android build out of the box.

The Samsung Conquer 4G will be available on Sprint starting July 24th, so we should know the pricing details by then.
