Popular iOS Apps Available for Free Download, Possible App Store Anniversary Promo
Apple’s App Store turns five this week, which might explain why some of the marketplace’s popular applications are now available for free. Apple’s App Store has started offering several popular applications, including Infinity Blade II and Tiny Wings, for free. Traktor DJ, a platform for pro DJs, which usually will set you back $19.99 at the time of this writing can be downloaded for free.
According to The Verge, which was first to report on the free apps, suggests the the appearance of free apps is an early promotion in anticipation of the App Store’s 5-year anniversary. The marketplace opened on July 10, 2008.
Apple has not promoted anything in the App Store to celebrate their 5 year anniversary. We’ve reached out to Apple for more information and will update this post when more details become available.
