How to Root the Samsung Galaxy Avant

It’s been a pain for many users to not being able to root their Samsung Galaxy Avant. We do know how it feels to have a phone that only lets you do a certain things and not everything that you always wanted to do, flashing a custom ROM, being one of them.

Fortunately, there’s now a simple way to gain root-access on the Galaxy Avant and have root-only apps work on it. You may think it’ll be a process involving numerous commands and things like that, but the fact is –it’s darn simple. All you need to do is just follow the following procedure and your device will be rooted in no time. It’s as simple as that.

I. Before You Begin

1. This should void the warranty of your device. We won’t be held responsible for the consequences of doing this procedure. Do it at your own risk.

2. This only works for the SM-G386T variant of the device. Please do not try this on any other device or you’ll end-up bricking it.

3. This procedure should only work on Windows based PCs.

4. You should have Samsung drivers installed on your PC. If you don’t, head over to the Samsung website and get the drivers installed on your PC.

II. Downloading Required Files

1. Download Odin and save it to your desktop.

2. Download Root Package and save it to your desktop.

3. Download TWRP Recovery and save it to your desktop.

III. Rooting the Samsung Galaxy Avant

1. Extract files from both Odin and Root Package over to your desktop by right-clicking on each of them and selecting Extract here. It’ll extract the files to your desktop.

2. Launch Odin by double-clicking on its executable file.

3. When it launches, click on PDA and choose the Root Package file you just extracted to your desktop.

4. Uncheck Repartition if it’s already checked in the Odin.

5. You can checkmark Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time though.

6. Turn OFF your device.

7. Turn your device back ON by holding down Volume DOWN, Home, and Power buttons together.

8. Press Volume UP when you see a warning message on your screen and you’ll boot into download mode.

9. Plug in your device to your PC using the USB cable.

10. Click on Start in the Odin and it’ll start flashing root package on your device.

11. When the flashing’s done, your device will automatically reboot.

12. You’re done!

IV. Flashing a Custom Recovery on the Samsung Galaxy Avant

1. Double-click on Odin executable and it should launch.

2. Click on PDA and choose TWRP Recovery available on your desktop.

3. Make sure the Repartition option isn’t checked in the Odin.

4. Put a checkmark in the boxes that say Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time.

5. Turn OFF your device.

6. Reboot your device into download mode by holding down Volume DOWN, Home, and Power buttons together.

7. Press Volume UP and you’ll reboot into download mode.

8. Connect your device to your PC via USB cable.

9. Hit Start in the Odin and it’ll begin flashing TWRP Recovery on your device.

10. When it’s done flashing the recovery, your device should automatically reboot.

11. And you’re all set!

Brilliant! The TWRP Recovery was successfully flashed on your Galaxy Avant and you can start using it right away to flash a custom ROM or a custom Mod.

    1. Yes, really simple. afterwards go to settings/ about device / scroll to build, tap 7 times. you just enabled developer mode, go back you will see it, you enable usb debugging in these options .

  1. Does the build number matter on this procedure for rooting? Or is it just the Model number of the Avant that is necessary to match up? I only ask because I was reading another tutorial (which is almost word for word the same as this one) and they specified that their build number had to match up or else you’d brick your phone. Just want to ensure I don’t end up ruining my brand new phone!
