How to Root the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 (Sprint)
Rooting is the process of gaining administrative rights on your Android device. Once we root our Android device, we can then make changes to it to customize it well beyond what it normally can do.
Once you have root access on your Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 (Sprint), you’ll be able to:
- Remove apps that were preinstalled by your carrier/manufacturer from your device.
- Free up storage space (because of the above benefit).
- Increase battery life (apps that might have been running constantly can be removed).
- Increase performance (after removing apps that are always running, the device will be less bogged down and run smoother).
- Update to a new version of Android (by flashing a custom recovery/ROM, see the end of this procedure for more info on that).
- Tons of other customizations when you use your new found administrative rights to flash a custom ROM (again, see the end of this procedure for more info on that).

Hello Drew,
You’re most welcome 🙂
I have used all the following links, and when I run root checker it is saying: Sorry! This device does not have proper root access. Even though SU is asking to Grant or Deny app root checker permissions. Can anyone help me?
I am using model number:SM-T217S
Android version 4.2.2
I do not understand why this is not working…
Hello Dan,
The procedure works just fine. What option did you choose when Root Checker asked for SU permission? Did you choose Deny or did you choose Grant?
Let us know.
Thanks!
I did all the steps, and when installing the zip thing it says veification failed. Cant fix this, been looking online for about 5 hours now… plz help?
After selecting “install zip from sdcard”, you’ll have an option called “toggle signature verification”. Make sure it’s turned OFF.
Exactly what button do I press? I dont have “install zip from sd card”, I have “update from external source”. After I press that, it just shows me the files on my sd card. There are no instructions from there on.
That means you don’t have the CWM Recovery installed on your device. Did you flash the recovery on your device using Section III ?
I did flash it but do I need to again?
Because the first time I extracted the universal root instead of leaving it in the zip file. So I rebooted without.
What I suggest you to do is: put the Root ZIP file on your device, flash the recovery but do not reboot your device. Just pull the battery out of your device and then put it back in, hold down the key combination for the recovery mode, and then flash the Root ZIP using the recovery.
Let us know how it works for you. Thanks!
Does this work with KitKat?
Hi Chris,
Well, it should.
no it doesn’t for me, I get a message saying installation aborted..
Would be helpful if the universal root zip was still available. It’s not on the first post as described.
