Rumor: Sharp Slated to Produce Next-Gen iPhone LCDs This June

Fresh up from the rumorville, Sharp is allegedly ready to start production on new screens for Apple’s next generation iPhone. According to Nikkan Kogyo, a Japanese business publication, the display manufacturer will start production on LCD panels for the next iPhone in its Kameyama plant beginning this June. As with all rumors we’re missing the fine details like   specifics about size and resolution differences from the current iPhone 5. Company team-up Japan Display, which includes LG Display, Sony, Hitachi and Toshiba have all reportedly received orders from Apple, and production is already in full swing.

Apple’s next-generation smartphone is expected to maintain the same display as the current iPhone 5, with rumored upgrades including a fingerprint sensor, faster A7 SoC and inclusion of the iOS 7 mobile operating system.

As with all Apple related rumors, we’ll take this with a couple grains of salt–but with June on the way we’re bound to see more related news emerge in the coming weeks.
