Samsung Focus S Cleared by the FCC, Ahead of Expected October Unveiling
The upcoming Samsung Focus S appears as though it is drawing closer to an official launch as it passed through the FCC on Friday. Passing under its device model number i937, it displayed AT&T 3G frequencies and confirmed the existence of both 5GHz 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
The Focus S is expected to be the Windows Phone 7 equivalent to the popular Samsung Galaxy S device. Much like the Galaxy S, the Focus S will also sport a 4.3 Super AMOLED touchscreen display and an eight megapixel rear facing camera. However, due to the Mango update, the Focus S will only have a 1.4 GHz Snapdragon processor and will have to make do with a downgraded 1.3 megapixel front facing camera for video chat and capturing photos.
The Samsung Focus S is widely expected to make its official debut during the CTIA show on October 11th.
Oh sweet! That probably means that the Gingerbread release for the Epic 4G is right around the corner! I wish they would take a breath and stop overdoing the multitasking race to see who can get the most stuff out the fastest without making sure it works at least as good as they promise.
