Samsung Galaxy S II Launch Delayed Due To Hurricane Irene
Launch delays in the wireless industry are common and most often caused by manufacturer delays or a hold up by the carrier themselves. However, in the unique case of the Samsung Galaxy S II, Hurricane Irene was more than enough reason to delay the launch.
Hurricane Irene made its way up through East Coast killing fifteen people in seven states and leaving 6 million houses and businesses without power. The Samsung press event was originally scheduled for August 29th in NYC, and will now be delayed until Tuesday, August 30th. Despite Irene making its way through NYC today, the event originally slated for Monday night will certainly be pushed back to Tuesday instead.
The Samsung Galaxy S II is expected to be unveiled for AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint as the respective device names: Attain, Hercules, and the Epic 4G Touch. As most consumers have waited this long for the Galaxy S II to launch stateside, one more day isn’t too bad all things considered.
