Samsung Galaxy Z (R) heading to the UK later this month
Launched as the Galaxy Z in Sweden recently, the same device is now headed for a release later this month in the UK, but under the alias of Galaxy R. Frankly, we thought devices took on different names only when making the hop over to this side of the Atlantic, but we are okay with it as long as it doesn’t get renamed every time it crosses a border.
As we already told you, the Galaxy R is a lower-specced Gingerbread 2.3.4 replica of the popular Galaxy S II with features consisting of a Tegra2 dual-core 1GHz CPU, 4.2-inch S-LCD touchscreen display, a 5MP rear camera with a 1.3MP lens on the front and 8GB of internal memory. People who have been complaining about the build quality of the Galaxy S2 will not have a chance to do the same with the Galaxy R though, as the back cover on this device is made of metal, adding a few ounces to the device’s overall weight.
Launching later this month, the Galaxy R doesn’t have a price tag attached to it yet or any carriers for that matter, but we should know very soon with its release so close at hand.
