Sony Claims to Have Upcoming Android Flagship Smartphone That Will Compete With iPhone 5 and Galaxy S III
Dennis van Schie, the CVP for Sony Mobile Sales and Marketing, has made a promise to consumers that the company “will create, in the near future, a flagship (smartphone) model that can compete with Apple’s iPhone and Samsung’s Galaxy S III”. While the statement holds potential,by making such a bold statement this also implies that Sony’s existing top-end smartphone, the Xperia TL, isn’t holding its own in such a competitive market.
Sony could be prepping us for the rumored Sony Yuga, which is expected to have a 5″ 1080p display with on-screen buttons, run Android 4.1, and house a quad-core Snapdragon S4 processor. Dennis van Schie went on to allude that the upcoming mystery device would make its reveal during the Mobile World Congress show in 2013.
Do you currently own a Xperia TL and wish it did more? Would you rather have an iPhone or the GS III? All this talk leaves us wondering if Sony did bust out a ridiculously cool phone, would consumers ditch their Apple or Samsung to buy it?
