Sony Ericsson Xperia Play announced on AT&T, to be available in two colors
We expected much more fanfare than this subdued unleashing of the gaming-centric smartphone on AT&T. The carrier has silently announced that the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play will be available on its network soon, although it failed to reveal any substantial details on when exactly that’ll happen or for how much. The event in New York where it was announced did reveal a few tidbits though – in addition to the black version we have already eyed previously, the Play will also be available in a color called “Stealth Blue” which sounds less appealing than the original black.
The specs are the same as any other Play out there with the exception of support for AT&T’s 21Mbps 4G network – the device runs Android 2.3 OS (which would make it the second device on AT&T with Gingerbread after the Status) using a 1GHz Snapdragon processor and 512MB RAM, has a 4-inch capacitive touchscreen display, a 5MP camera, and its main draw, the PSP-esque gaming controls with the ability to play PSOne games.
We’ll get back you with further updates when AT&T opens up more.
