Sony Xperia X10 Officially Announced, With Hands On Video

Today, Sony officially announced their first Android device and Engadget managed to get a hold of one and do a quick hands. And this phone is seriously the nicest Android device I have seen yet.

The new UI is the first UI for Android I’ve seen that can compete with the HTC Hero interface, the first 1Ghz Snapdragon processor in an Android device, huge 4″ OLED screen with nice resolution (480×854), nice 8.1MP camera with an LED flash, and by the way a T-Mobile 3G and AT&T 3G version will BOTH be available. Making this the second high end unlocked phone with T-Mobile’s 3G built in 🙂

The only downside is that it is scheduled for a Q1 2010 release, which is too far off for my taste…

  1. Impressive. A couple things caught my eye:

    – 1GB of memory? I guess that’s better than what’s available now. I wish it had more.
    – 1.6 Donut? Come on…the device won’t be out until Q1 2010. Why not at least 2.0?!
    – 8GB microSD included…nice. Hopefully it’s a class 6, but I bet it won’t be due to cost.

  2. Anyone know the price? this things sounds like its going to cost over a g lol 480×854 OLED display, 8mp camera…….iPhone wat??? moto whooooo??? lol

  3. I don’t see OLED in screen specs!

I don’t see capacitive in screen spec!

I don’t see Andorid 2.0 in OS software specs!

What does “Phone memory up to 1 GB means”?

I don’t see LED or xenon flash!

    Rachel FAIL:(

    1. Nedjo,

OLED is in the introduction (page 1 and 2).
Capacitive has been confirmed by Sony (even though you are right, its not in this sheet).
2.0 is not in the specs sadly 🙁
Phone memory means 1GB of storage built in and the 8GB memory card is added to that most likely (saw someone say 1GB of RAM in the comments here and despite how awesome that would be, I would assume it isn’t RAM, but who knows).
LED Flash has been confirmed by Sony (even though you are right, its not in this sheet).

      Still a fail?

  4. I’ve been watching and waiting for this phone for a while, and I guess it’ll be a while longer. Good thing my contract’s not up til January.

  5. TheUnlockr,

    of course it’s fail, unfortunately.

I’ve presume you’ve seen previews on gsmarena, and endgadget? The so called UX is so slow it’s beyond believe that they’ve decided to show it live!

I don’t take excuses like “it’s beta, pre-production… etc, etc…” c’mone this is major multinational corporation that we’re talking about, not some garage indie bunch of enthusiasts!

They’re promising something, and on the other hand phone with the better features is entering sales in a matter of hours! SE’s marketing approach is laughable!

This phone hasn’t got anything to offer over the Droid and upcoming Droid Tablet. As amateur of fact it offers less!

It offers inferior, and outdated OS (yeah people still can dream that it’ll come with 2.0, but official spec says what it does, and SE officials don’t try to persuade us to think differently!

According to endgadet it drains battery like mad that is in total contrast to Droid that has best battery autonomy among android phones…

What I find especially interesting is that people (yeah me included) were impressed with the fact that X10 has 1 GIGAHERZ processor, and Droid runs on “just” 0.55 GHz! And what do we have now? Rachel is dragging her self, and Droid… well does deliver 😉
