With Square, More Restaurants to Integrate Apple Pay
More likely than not, your only exposure to Apple Pay so far has been at NFC ready terminals found at Starbucks or Whole Foods Market. That’s because most other vendors are hesitant to adopt a mobile payment system like Apple’s without proof that it’s more than just some passing fancy. So, in hopes of keeping Apple Pay alive and kicking, Apple has teamed up with Square (best known for their widely popular Square Reader peripherals) to bring Apple Pay to a wider market by introducing a brand new device: the Apple Pay Square Reader.
This new reader will be much more affordable and easier to institute than relying on NFC terminals. Consequently, this means any vendor willing to risk a few bucks will be able to adopt Apple’s payment system with little effort. Ideally, one will be able to pay for meals at their favorite restaurant by way of a simple wave of their Apple Watch or iPhone. Garcon, reader!
Ladies and gentlemen, we are one step closer to freeing ourselves from the stranglehold that plastic has on us. But without a tangible proxy for our hard earned money, how will these digitized bank cards prompt us to spend our money?
