Super-strong Samsung Hercules headed for Telus Canada
Samsung Hercules, the Galaxy S II variant designed for Telus Canada, was caught posing for some pictures and lending a few moments for a strength test. The hands-on pictures snagged by MobileSyrup, show the device to be similar to what we saw a few days earlier with the rumored specs more or less confirmed.
As seen in the picture, the Samsung Hercules is running on Telus’ 42Mbps 4G network and spits out a remarkable 3359 on the Quadrant benchmark, a lot faster than the Nexus One and the powerful Motorola Droid X. The device is similar to the Nexus S in appearance but with curved edges and supposedly houses a 4.5 inch touchscreen display, a front-facing 2mpx lens (with 8MP on the back), and a blazing-fast 1.2GHz dual-core processor which is the main reason (and the 1gig of RAM crammed in) behind such a high Quadrant score. For OS, the device might come with Android 2.3.4 or better yet, 2.4 or Ice-Cream Sandwich, which is rumored to make its debut in October. Also snuck in are an NFC chip and an MHL port, which doubles as a microUSB port when not used as a HDMI connector.
No word on when the lucky Canadians will get the device or at what price but a release around the same time as the T-Mobile’s version of the Galaxy S II (by October 26) seems likely.
