Symbian Anna now en route OTA to Nokia N8, C7, E7 and C6-01
Windows Phone 7 and its tropical variations are still a bit off in the future but that doesn’t mean Nokia is ignoring its firstborn OS, Symbian, as the much-talked-about Symbian Anna update is now rolling out to devices in European and Asian countries. Currently, France, UK and Italy is getting the update but a more wider rollout is expected next week.
For improvements, Symbian Anna has quite a few points (most of which have been available on the Android platform for a long while now):
- Updated web browser
- Stronger security
- Virtual QWERTY input in portrait mode now possible
- Improved Nokia Maps functionality
- NFC capabilities (only on the Nokia C7, which as a NFC chip embedded)
The update is about 27MB, so you might want to hook your device up to a WiFi access point if you have spotty 3G in your area. Let us know below if you find any other improvements that others might have missed.
