How to Unroot the LG G Flex2 (H955)

So you’ve had enough fun with your LG G Flex2 by rooting it, flashing custom ROMs, and just tinkering around with it in every way imaginable. But, now, sadly, you have a need to get it back to stock.

Whether you need to unroot the LG G Flex2 to send it in for warranty, sell it to someone, or just want to have a clean slate to start all over with it, this is going to be how to do it.

Essentially, we’re going to use LG’s own flashing tool and flash the stock firmware from LG onto the device. This firmware contains the recovery, boot image, stock system image, everything you need to wipe out any changes you’ve made and get it as close to the way it was when you bought it.

I. Before You Begin

1. You should’ve rooted your device using the procedure given here.

2. Backup your data before doing this procedure as this will erase all the data stored on your device.

3. You must have a Windows based PC to do this procedure.

4. Ensure that LG USB drivers are installed on your PC. If they aren’t, go ahead and install those first.

5. This should only work for the H955 variant of the device.

How to Unroot the LG G Flex2 (H955)

To unroot the device, you’re going to flash a stock ROM on it available in .kdz format. You’ll use the LG’s Flash Tool to flash the ROM on your device. Here’s how:

II. Downloading Required Files

1. Download Stock ROM for your specific variant of the device and save it to your desktop.

2. Download LG Flash Tool and save it to your desktop.

III. Unrooting the LG G Flex2 (H955)

1. Right-click on LG Flash Tool and select Extract here to extract the executable file.

2. Copy Stock ROM from your desktop over to the LG Flash Tool folder on your PC.

3. Turn off your device.

4. Turn your device back on in download mode. To do that, hold down Volume UP on your device and plug it in to your PC using a USB cable.

5. Right-click on LGFlashTool2014.exe and select Run as administrator to launch the tool.

6. Select CDMA from the Select Type dropdown menu.

7. Select DIAG from the PhoneMode dropdown menu.

8. Click on the input box given next to Select KDZ file and select stock ROM .kdz available on your desktop.

9. Click on CSE Flash in the flash tool.

10. Click on Start on the following screen.

11. Click on OK without changing any settings on the screen that follows.

12. Wait for the tool to flash stock ROM on your device.

13. When the tool’s done flashing ROM, reboot your device.

After that, you’re all set and back to stock. Enjoy!

  1. this worked, but i got some errors. i thought i’m stuck in a bootloop, but i didn’t do anything so everything is good.

      First of all, we’re glad that our procedure helped you!

      If you chose the firmware that was for YOUR device, you would never face a boot-loop, but since you already are in one, please do the following:

      Get into the recovery mode and factory reset and wipe caches on your device. Then, flash the stock firmware and you shouldn’t have any boot-loops.

      1. I am not in a bootloop, i just thought during the flashing process, because there were some errors. Everything is fine.
