How to Unroot the Samsung Galaxy S5 (Europe)
Perhaps you’re done playing with root and custom ROMs on your Android device? Regardless of the reason, it’s usually pretty easy to unroot your device and go back to the stock firmware.
Some of the reasons for unrooting your Samsung Galaxy S5 (Europe) are:
- Sending in the device for warranty (most, but not all unrooting procedures reinstate the manufacturer warranty if you had one before rooting).
- Starting over (simply undoing everything you did while rooted so you can have a clean slate to start over).
- Fix any issues (Maybe rooting messed something up? No problem, unrooting will take care of it for you).
Ready to get started? Here’s how to unroot the Samsung Galaxy S5 (Europe):
I. Before You Begin
1. You should have rooted your device using the procedure given here.
2. This should only work on Windows based PCs.
3. You should have required drivers installed on your PC. If you don’t, you can download the latest drivers from here.
4. This only works for the SM-G900F variant of the device.
II. Downloading Required Files
1. Download Odin and save it to your Desktop.
2. Download the appropriate stock firmware for your device and save it to your Desktop.
III. Unrooting the Samsung Galaxy S5 (Europe)
1. Extract files from both Odin and Stock Firmware by right-clicking on each of them and selecting Extract here.
2. Double-click on Odin executable and it should launch.
3. Click on PDA and choose the stock firmware file you just extracted to your Desktop.
4. Make sure Repartition is unchecked in the Odin.
5. Checkmark the boxes that say Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time.
6. Turn OFF your device.
7. Turn it back on by holding down Volume Down, Home, and Power buttons together.
8. Press Volume Up and you should be in Download mode.
9. Plug in your device to your PC via USB cable.
10. Hit Start in the Odin and it’ll start flashing the firmware on your device.
11. Once flashed, your device should automatically reboot.
12. You’re all done!
All set! You are now running stock firmware on your Samsung Galaxy S5 (Europe) and have unrooted it.
Want to try again? You can always reroot your device by heading to our Rooting How To’s section, finding your device, and doing the How to Root listed for it there.
Worked Just fine. 😉 Thanks a lot. 😉
Hello Danoer,
That’s great! You’re most welcome!
Did not work, but before this action I tried to root this SG5 while it was encrypted. After such rooting the SG5 did not start (asked for the password, after entering it just displayed the android robot and blank screen), so I wanted unroot it, same effect “PASS” but does not start… everything I can do is entering the download mode… any packages seem to be downloaded successfully but after reset only the SAMSUNG animated logo is displayed and animation is endless. I tried the repartition option and I simply get rid of asking for the encryption password, but still the system does not start.
Hello,
It seems your device has either been bricked or has issues that don’t let it flash the stock firmware.
There’s no issues in the procedure, it just works fine. Please reach out to your nearest customer care centre and ask them if they could help you.
Thanks!
How I can choose appropriate stock firmware ?
